Wurlitzer console of the Schwanke residence organ

The Schwanke residence instrument is a combination of parts from various builders, primarily Reuter. A Wurlitzer console, Kimball relay and several Morton percussions are also included. The console and pipe chamber are located in a detached garage. The 5HP blower is in its own shed adjacent to the garage.

The organ includes the following Reuter ranks: Tibia, Concert Flute, Violin, Clarinet, Cornopean and Oboe. Some interesting features of the organ are the overhead mounted 16' Bourdons and a custom roll player mechanism designed by Harold Schwanke.

In addition to the instrument shown above, Harold also collected various other parts. This included several ranks of pipes, chests, swell shades and three extra consoles is various stages of assembly: a Wurlitzer two-manual, a Wurlitzer three-manual and a Morton three-manual. Both three-manual consoles started their life as two-manuals.

The Wurlitzer console (from opus #697), was previously owned by recording organist Lorin Whitney. It was enlarged to three manuals for use in his Glendale, California residence organ. When this organ was moved to Washington State to be installed in Seattle's Calvary Temple Church, the console was sold to Rick and Clayton Parks for use at the Elsinore Theatre. When a larger console was acquired for the Elsinore, the Whitney console went to Harold Schwanke.
